Is fear of change preventing a better future?
For years products have been on the market that we know are better for the environment and our planet, but is it just the financial reasons that are preventing the boom of these products or is it the fear of change?
Most people today understand that the reduction of fossil fuels and similar products is mainly being prevented through the infastructure and financial benefits to some, but does this mean that its all to be blamed on a select few companies rather than really looking where WE can make the biggest difference. making a difference has become a term that seems distant, hard to reach and almost unachievable to those who lead lives and hold down jobs and families because the only options we are given are huge or difficult, and I understand why, when rushing to work in the morning whilst feeding kids or pets im sure the last thing on your mind is to cycle to work.
So what can you do to help create a better future for the generation to come? help prevent climate change and protect our ecosystems all whilst living the hectic life in sure most of us lead? the answer is simple, look for alternatives in your daily lives rather than completely changing your life! believe me substitution of something will always be easier than adapting to something new.
It seems so simple yet if these small changes are made by alot then the differences will be outstanding, lets take toilet paper for example, if you were to switch to recycled toilet paper the environmental impact of just a single individual may seem small but when you start quantifying the figures as more and more people change to this the environmental impact becomes incredibly apparent
By Recycling 1 ton of paper you save:
– 17 trees 6953 gallons of water
– 463 gallons of oil
– 587 pounds of air pollution
– 3.06 cubic yards of landfill space
– 4077 Kilowatt hours of energy
How about Energy efficient lighting?
next time you need lightbulbs why not opt for the eco-friendly option, these small changes all make a difference and together people can make a huge diffence by making small steps. So the next time your shopping or the next time you routinely carry out the same things that we all do stop and think, could i change this for the better? and i promise you the answer will be yes for so much more than you could imagine.
The reduction of fossil fuels and protection against climate change and global warming is something that is becoming more and more of a prodominant issue in everybodies everyday life and if changes are not made over the next few years this will only become worse.
Reducing, reusing, and recycling
Reducing, reusing, and recycling in your home helps conserve energy and reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from resource extraction, manufacturing, and disposal. If there is a recycling program in your community, recycle your newspapers, beverage containers, paper, and other goods. Also, composting your food and yard waste reduces the amount of garbage that you send to landfills and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Televisions, stereo equipment, computers, battery chargers and a host of other gadgets and appliances consume more energy when seemingly switched off, so unplug them instead.
Purchasing energy-efficient gadgets can also save both energy and money—and thus prevent more greenhouse gas emissions. To take but one example, efficient battery chargers could save more than one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and thus prevent the release of more than one million metric tons of greenhouse gases.
Preventing climate change in the future is down to the actions and opinions of future generations – meaning now is the time to start educating our children about climate change and its effects. This can be done at school, by parents and every simply through leading by example. If you have children, get them involved in making your lives greener. Give them the responsibility to make sure lights and plugs are turned off in their rooms each time, get them involved in recycling and other green initiatives, rewarding them for their good work.
So do you think that the fear of change is preventing you from making this world a better place for tomorrow? making a difference or making a change should not be looked at as an unreachable target and taking the small steps that you can in your everyday life should be something to be proud of, making any change is contributing to securing the wonders of this planet for the future and this is something that anyone should be able to shout about.
